I’m on a quest to uncover Tasmania’s top finds, and so far, I’ve come to the conclusion that this is one of Australia’s most underrated travel destinations. The lyrical landscapes are lapped with lush rainforests, blue water beaches and untrammelled natural splendour. The wineries and verdant vineyards seamlessly integrate with a haul of historical and modern finds.

If there’s one thing I’ve learnt on my travels, it’s this. It’s not only the top luxury hotels in Tasmania that have something to offer. There’s an abundance of quaint cottages, locally-run retreats, humble hotels and gorgeous glamping spots too. And each of them is as unique as it gets.

As I stepped inside the tent, I was immediately taken aback by the luxe queen-size bedding, the Persian-inspired carpets and the unique touches. From the glimmering lights to the picnic basket, it struck me that every touch was intentional.
After admiring the sumptuous decor, I decided to explore the rest of the property. I wandered down from the waterfront encampment to the Tamar River. This was a peaceful place to bask in the beauty of the region. The undulating mountains, glimmering blue water and an array of animated birdlife had me feeling like it couldn’t get any better.
I strolled through the scenic trails and made my way up to the kitchen/common area. I loved spotting all the details - dotted among the plants, I found vintage pieces, old novels and sparkling shell collages. Upon passing the kayaks, I stumbled into the sauna and cold plunge pool.
After admiring the golden seahorse handle and little details, I lit up the wood-fired sauna. I spent the early evening sweating it out and alternating between dips in the seawater cold plunge pool.
Dinner felt like it had been ripped out of a movie scene - with the local birds chirping and the campfire flickering in the background. As the sunset shone all shades of gold, orange and pink, I took a dip in the outdoor bathtub.
I spent the next few days reading by the fireplace, unwinding on the deck and soaking up all the serenity. I spotted lots of native fauna - cockatoos, kookaburras, wallabies, bilbies and cheeky Tasmanian Devils.
After a few days in nature, I can honestly say that this was the perfect place to recharge. There are many places to stay in Tasmania, but Wingtons Glamping has been a real highlight.
